A Starry Night Art Auction & Reception

Description

On behalf of Ocean’s Harbor House, we invite your attendance and support once again of our “A Starry Night Art Auction & Reception” on June 6, 2024. This year is transformative and critical for Ocean’s Harbor House and the work ahead. This year we opened our doors on Windsor Avenue to single-mother-led families with young children under 18 years of age. The Code Blue program just completed was impactful in numbers and an affirmation of the acute need for families on the brink of disaster. Because of this endeavor, homelessness and lack of shelter is front and foremost in the public conversation right now. Equally as important, we continue to serve the unhoused teens and youth of our community through our supervised transitional living program. Since 2004, over 650 young people have passed through the doors of The SHORE House. This past year, our house was home to 18 youth, with 90% gainfully employed, 100% high school completed, 100% discharged with substantial savings, 90% positive discharge to independent living, 3,425 bed nights, and 1,024 counseling hours. Our SHORE House on Conifer Street is filled with teens and youth trying to find their way to their hopes and dreams, and a stable, successful adulthood. We thank you in advance for the heart you have Ocean’s Harbor House, as we all work toward making Ocean County a place where all have a shot at a good life. In support of these efforts, this year our celebratory event will be held at The Rebecca Finn House, with art displayed throughout the house. This historic building, with its wrap-around porch and grounds overlooking a spectacular view of the Toms River, is a precious gem in our community and the perfect host to celebrate our organization and its history of service. This annual event again features a variety of art created by our youth and local community artists, and will be available for bidding, raising much-needed funds to support our Mission. On this very special evening, we are honoring the dedication and contributions of Sid Colvin, past Executive Director of Ocean’s Harbor House, and we are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the SHORE House, our Supervised Transitional Living Program for youth 16 – 21 years of age. Culinary delights, wine and music will be part of the evening’s festivities. Your contribution as a sponsor and/or an attendee elevates our ongoing commitment to provide vitally needed shelter. services and programs for the homeless youth and families of Ocean County.
