OUR MISSION:

CASA of Ocean County trains people from all walks of life to advocate on behalf of foster children in our community. The mission of CASA is to provide foster children in Ocean County with a trained volunteer who will advocate on their behalf while they reside in foster care. Our volunteer advocates identify needs, make recommendations to the family court, and provide these children with a steady, consistent adult presence during this difficult, and often tumultuous, time in their lives.

Our staff is a group of dedicated and driven individuals passionate about serving the children in our community. The ideal candidate should work well with a close-knit team, while also being responsible for their individual caseload.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Case Supervisor (CS) is responsible for the coordination, support, and coaching of volunteer activity and case management. The (CS) will develop and maintain professional relationships with all volunteers and interested parties including the judge, the court staff, the lawyers and the state and community agencies. The (CS) will also be responsible for assisting with the recruitment and training of all volunteers. This position requires attending court hearings, creating, and editing court reports, attending home visits as needed, and direct support for a team of volunteers and their cases.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree in sociology, family services, social work, psychology, criminal justice, or another related field is required. Previous experience (minimum of one year) working with volunteers, advocating for others, children’s rights, and/or the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. Case Management

  • Match CASA case with appropriate volunteer
  • Develop a case plan with your volunteer.
  • Ensure your volunteer is attending court hearings and following the case plan for advocacy which both of you have developed.
  • Keep necessary records as described by our case management procedures both on paper and in our online database.

B. Volunteer Support and Coaching

  • Ensure volunteers attend court hearings, visitations and other stakeholders and provide the Senior Case Supervisor with information immediately if a Volunteer is not upholding their assigned duties.
  • Make a minimum of a monthly contact with each volunteer and receive contact logs via Optima on a monthly basis from each volunteer.
  • Keep necessary and appropriate volunteer case records in accordance with our case management procedures and make sure all information is logged in a timely fashion into the online database.
  • Be available for consultation and assistance to all volunteers.

C. Volunteer Training

  • Assist with training of volunteers and be prepared to critique volunteers throughout training.

D. Program Activities

  • Attend all available conferences and workshops for the development of programs for volunteers.
  • Assist in orientation of new staff, interns, volunteer office help.
  • Attend staff meetings.
  • Assist in volunteer appreciation events and all program events when possible.
  • Offer constructive feedback to improvements and advancements for the CASA Organization

E. Other activities as identified by the Executive Director
